Our first full week is complete! It was great to see the students and staff settle in to the new school year.

The Wilson’s Senior Debating Team consisting of Esther, Eoin, Kaia, Olivier and assistant Emma travelled with Mr Burke to Elphin for their first debate in the Concern Debates League.

The motion was “Ending World Hunger by 2030 is Beyond Humanity’s Reach” and Wilson’s had the challenging task of opposing the motion. Elphin Community College proved a very hospitable host. After a very entertaining debate, the motion was carried in favour of the proposition. Nonetheless, Esther, Eoin, Kaia and Olivier put in a tremendous effort and the final marking was extremely tight.

Wilson’s Senior Debating Team look forward to their next debate against St. Joseph’s Secondary School Rochfortbridge on Wednesday week (23 October). Wilson’s will be proposing the motion that “Nuclear power is essential for a clean energy future.” All parents and staff are invited to the debate which will take place in Croí na Scoile at Wilson’s Hospital School.
