Great news! Two of our entries are the Regional Finalists of the 2019 Junk Kouture competition! Ozioma, Ayo, Mary, Destiny, Mila and Kelechi are going to the next level. There will be voting open to the public from Monday. Details on how to vote will be posted here then.
The students started creating their designs last September. From brainstorming, sketching and a final design, TY students created 3 beautiful outfits made out of recycled materials.
Team 1 created a garment called Kawaii inspired by an Asian culture and their model Mila, who is half Japanese. Students involved: Mila, Destiny and Kelechi.
Team 2 created an outfit called Oh My Goddess Oshun inspired by the Egyptian Ancient civilization and the goddess Oshun, the goddess of water. Students involved: Ozioma, Ayo and Mary.
Team 3 created an outfit called Angeli Irun completely made from hair extensions and inspired by the history of slavery. Students involved: Sharon, Sam, Duvall and Nenpan.
Miss Byrne is very happy with the student's work. They worked very hard and were very involved.
