Wilson’s Hospital School has won a prize as the Westmeath winner of the WEEE Pledge initiative 2016/2017. The school was involved in a Battery Recycling Challenge organised by WEEE. Pupils in Transition Year last year took part in Mr Keaney’s Environmental Studies classes and were in charge of recycling collections in the school including paper, cardboard and batteries. Each classroom has recycling boxes for these materials. 94kg of batteries were collected over the academic year to be recycled with WEEE. They have won a school trip for up to 30 students to attend environmental and science educational workshops at The Rediscovery Centre in Ballymun.
