Wednesday 13th March.
Rugby. The Senior Boys team played Templeogue.
The First Year boys team travelled to The King’s Hospital School to take on their first year A team. Missing talisman Sam - who was on duty with the junior team, the First Years battled well and went in at half time 19-5 down. Our try came from Joel who played very well at number 8.
KH were physically bigger and it told in the second half. They eventually pulled away to win 41-5. WHS can take lots of positives from the game. Ciarán, Finn and Alpha showed considerable work rate up front while Michael, Jude and Elliott were the pick of the backs.
The Junior Boys team travelled to Kildare to play their final group game in the Spring League. Their opponents - Newbridge College were undefeated in the league as were WHS so this was a winner takes all shoot out for a semi final.
Wilson’s led at half time 19-12. Tries from Alvaro (2) and Marco had WHS in control having played the better rugby in the first half. Things began to unravel after half time. An injury to Mateo who had been excellent at scrum half seemed to be the turning of the game. Newbridge eventually won 26-19.
The pick of the forwards were Sam and Ross while Alvaro, Tom and Mateo the pick of the backs. On a more positive note, the Juniors welcomed back Team Captain Reuben after 4 months out with a broken wrist.
Friday 15th March.
The Orienteers will take part in the All Ireland Post Primary Schools Orienteering Championships in Newcastlewest, Co. Limerick.
