Rugby. A much changed Senior Boys Rugby squad travelled to Athy Rugby club on Wednesday to play Athy Community School in the Forster Cup. With several players missing due to TY work experience, 5th year trip to France and 6th year Mock Exam commitments, it was always going to be a tough ask to get a win. Thankfully the group put together a gutsy performance to win 29-13. Two tries in the last five minutes of the game added gloss to what was, for the most part a very tight game. Conor (2), Ben, Evan C and Joe B scored the tries while Ben added 2 conversions. Thank you to all of those players who dusted off the rugby boots to help the team out. That leaves the Seniors with 3 wins from 3 in the Forster Cup.

A very young Junior Boys Rugby team travelled to Drogheda Grammar on Wednesday for the Plate quarter final. Of the starting 15, 13 players were in 2nd year and 2 in Transition Year. The final score was 36-24 to Drogheda with the real difference between the two teams being the Drogheda No 8. Although the result was disappointing - this young team can be very proud of their efforts and look forward to finishing out their league competition over the coming weeks. Ross was Wilson's top performer on the day with Matthew, Eddie, Alvaro and Tom also putting in a good shift. We would like to wish Edward a speedy recovery after breaking his leg on Monday evening.

The First Year Boys team were again successful, this time overcoming St Columba’s College at home. The final Score was 48-24. Scorers on the day were Joel (2), Jude (3), Elliott, William and Michael all scoring one each. Jude was named Man of the Match as the flying winger dotted down three times. Rowland and Elliott combined very well at half backs allowing space for Michael, Samuel and Jude out wide. In the pack Finn, Ciaran and Kevin applied themselves very well. Congratulations to Sam who was called up to the Juniors for a second week following his excellent performances for the first year team.  .

Friday 8th February.

Hockey. The Minor A Girls hockey team were in action against Loreto Mullingar. It was a brilliant game to watch despite the freezing winds. The teams were evenly matched in the first half and it concluded with no goals for either side.

In the second half Wilson's lifted the pace and Ameera got a chance on goal, at a very narrow angle, which she managed to put just inside the far post and put Wilson's one up. Loreto came back strongly and won a penalty corner which was well managed by our sturdy defence and so Loreto were seen off with no score. A few minutes later Adaobi in the mid field sent a lovely pass up the field to our Team Captain, Faith, in centre forward. She crossed the ball to Ameera who beat the goalie in style by flicking the ball into the goal.

The game ended with a 2-0 victory for Wilson's in the Meath and District League and a great game of hockey for all involved.
