Some volunteers have been involved in preparing shoe boxes to give to the Team Hope Christmas Shoe Box Appeal 2013. This has been organised by the Chaplain, Rev. Hazel Scully. They held a successful fund-raising table quiz this week to raise funds to cover the administration costs of this appeal. Pupils involved in the Alpha Courses which have benn running in school were involved in the organisation of this appeal in Wilson's.
They have prepared 23 shoe boxes for Team Hope. The winning teams at the table quiz were as follows: The A Team: Abigail and Amy and The Boys: Joe, James, Pierre and Jake. The recipients of these boxes are the forgotten children - victims of war, disease or poverty. Children living on the edge, in some of the poorest countries in the world. For families living on less than €1 a day, Christmas is just another ordinary day - nothing special, no Christmas tree, no presents. These shoeboxes will bring a little hope, a lot of laughter and smiles, and a practical expression of God's love at Christmas time, for children who have very little..
