Basketball. The Senior Boys had an away fixture today. They met another very strong team!
Hockey. The U16 Boys had an away match against St. Marks Community College. The boys played a strong first half but unfortunately couldn't get a goal despite two excellent chances for Dominic and Cole. After half time they went back on as strongly as they left off and Alex scored a goal. String defending from John, Craig and Edward, along with two brilliant saves from Mark kept St.Marks scoreless. On the whole it was a game well played by Wilson's. This was the boys second match and also their second win. Well done to all involved.
Tuesday 10th October.
Hockey. The Minor A girls team had a Leinster League match today travelling to Donabate. They started off strongly in what was only their second time playing on Astro turf. Lucy led the charge from the defensive line. Donabate got a goal knocking the girls' confidence and a second soon followed. After a half time chat the girls went out and played with renewed vigour. Player of the match for Wilson's, Ruth, worked tirelessly in centre midfield and Sadbh had a great game as centre forward. Donabate had a very experienced side with many players participating at club level as well as at school and they got another couple of goals to add to the tally. The Wilson's girls were not to be disheartened by their first outing this year as they played with great determination and never gave up.
Rugby. The 1st and 2nd year boys squad had an away match to Longford RFC tonight. They continued their impressive start with a hard fought win. The game was played under lights in wet conditions. The boys got down to business early on with a try from Isaac. Receiving the ball on the half way line he ran the cover defence to score in the corner. Another two tries followed from team Captain, Stephen before the break. Longford responded with two tries themselves leaving the half time score17-12. Eddie and Ross added tries in the second half to put Wilson's in control. Longford worked hard and their efforts paid off with another try to finish. the final result was 29-19. Juan, Padraig, Malcolm and Scott had great games in defence. Malcolm and Scott were playing against their old club. In attack James, Edward, Matthew and Joshua had fine games. Man of the Match for Wilson's was Padraig. The next scheduled match for the first years will be to Tullamore.
Wednesday 11th October.
Hockey. The Senior B Girls team have an away Leinster match against the Dominican College, Sion Hill In Blackrock. They started the game with most of the possession in the first half. The girls were playing well but couldn't seem to get the ball in the opposition's goals. Late in the first half, Sion Hill scored a goal to make it 1-0 at the break. Our goal keeper was unable to play the second half so Fiona stepped up to the mark and put on the goalie gear. Both teams gave their all in the second half and Wilson's were unlucky to concede another goal shortly after the break. During a Wilson's short corner, Lauren scored a goal which was disallowed. The game ended 2-0 but the team were happy enough with the team performance. Fiona pulled off some great saves considering she had never been in goals before. Lauren, Emma, Favour and Michaela all had a fantastic game.
Rugby. The Junior and Senior Boys teams had home matches against Mt. Temple School. The Juniors were put under pressure by Mount Temple early in the game but the Wilson's defence held strong with Harry, Ola and Jeffrey leading by example with some great tackling to keep the home team's try-line intact. Wilson's finally got a grasp of the game and added tries through Jeffrey, Ola and new out half Ben getting two. This left the half time score 20-2 (the game was played on the soccer pitch with no conversions). In the second half Wilson's really pushed on with further tries from Ben (3), Evan, Jensen, Ola, Mark, Thomas and Michael leaving the final score 65-15 to WHS. In poor conditions Oisín, Ola and Jeffrey were the pick of the pack while Ben, Michael, Rodrigo and Evan constantly made ground in the backs. Next week it's back to the league when we welcome St Andrew's College at 2.30. Well done boys!
