Monday 25th September

Basketball. The Senior Boys team and the Girls team both had home matches today. The Senior Boys met a much stronger team and did not win. The Girls team won their match.

Wednesday 27th September

Rugby. The Senior Boys  were to continue their league campaign playing Skerries but Skerries called off the came giving Wilson's the points. The Junior Girls played a home fixture this afternoon against St. Finian's. Unfortunately, the score line of 8 tries to 5 was not in our favour, but we have a huge list of positives to take from the game.

Seven young ladies made their debut representing the school and definitely did not disappoint. Marta and Ana both scored tries for the team while Maria, Aoibhinn, Rose and both Lucia's carried the ball well and made some vital tackles. Jenna who captained the side made some wonderful breaks resulting in tries as did Corinna. Brianna, Zita and Maire made excellent ground with ball in hand and Carolyn and both Emma's worked extremely hard securing and gaining possession of the ball. Training will continue next week and we look forward to playing our next game very soon.

The First and Second Year Boys rugby team also played very worthwhile fixtures against St Finian's Mullingar in what can only be described as biblical conditions. 50 players (between the boys and the girls) took the field over 3 games wearing Wilson's colours. The First Years won their game 12 tries to 8. Deji had a fine game along with Stephen and Tom in the backs. Team captain Matt showed great leadership while Edward, Ross and Matthew excelled in the forwards. The Second Years lost a very tight game 3 tries to 2. Daniel and Alex got the tries for Wilson's. It was great to see Jeffery and Bright start their first games of rugby for the school. The pick of the forwards were Reuben, Matthew and Philip while Josh, Alex and Dominic worked tirelessly in the backs.

Well done to everyone who took the field this afternoon. Hopefully the sun comes out next Wednesday when the Junior Boys take on Scoil Clonglais for Carlow in the second round of the league.

Hockey. Two home fixtures were to take place today against Drogheda Grammar School but the awful rain meant a flooded pitch and the matches were postponed til next Wednesday. The 1st & 2nd Year Boys team will play first followed by the 3rd and 4th Year Boys.

Soccer. The Seniors Boys were due to play a match against St. Finian's but the weather meant the match was postponed.

Thursday 28th September.

Debating. Teams from 1st and 2nd year took part in a schools debating competition in UCD this evening. They had a great experience competing against a wide selection of schools and picking up lots of tips and ideas.

Friday 29th September.

Basketball. The Girls team had an away match this morning which they won comfortably.
