Wednesday 13th September
Rugby. An U16 Boys team played Longford RFC at 7.30pm
Wilson's First and Second years travelled up to The High School in Rathgar this afternoon to play their first fixture of the season. Newpark also joined and we played a blitz format with 10 players per team.
Wilson's played very well on the day winning 7 games and drawing one - scoring 52 tries in the process. Player of the tournament was Ross who scored 8 tries for Wilson's. Four First year boys (Padraig, Deji, Byron and Edward) also played their first ever games of rugby which was great to see.
Phillip, Matthew, Eddie and Ross played particularly well for their first games in a Wilson's jersey. Well done to all involved!
The Senior Rugby team also travelled to Rathgar to take on The High School. This was Wilson's first league fixture of the season and happened to be against the team that beat them in the league final last December.
Wilson's found themselves under their posts with less than a minute on the clock. A messy kickoff coupled with a missed tackle allowed The High School to score under the posts. The High School scored another try before Wilson's got on the board with a try through Conor. The half time score 21.5.
Wilson's scored a try through Richard early in the second half after a nice break from Alex. This was as close as Wilson’s got to a sharp looking High School outfit. The south Dublin school added 2 more tries late in the game to leave the final score 31-12.
The High School were full value for their win. Wilson's didn't have enough of the ball to properly test them. Back to the drawing board Monday before we welcome Newpark to Multyfarnham in the second round of the league next Wednesday.
