Sports & Extra Curricular Events 8th - 14th January 2018

Wednesday 10th January.

Hockey: The 1st & 2nd Year Boys team and the Boys U16 team both played against The King's Hospital School this afternoon.  Malcolm, Nathan and Mario played well for the 1st years but they lost overall 1-0. Mark, Craig and Reuben played well for the Juniors who unfortunately list 4-0.

Rugby: The Senior Boys team played CBC  Monkstown in the first round of the Vinnie Murray Cup. Monkstown won the cup last year and pushed Clongowes Wood all the way in the quarter final of the Senior Cup. Conditions were good in a crisp Dublin 4. Monkstown were first out of the blocks and scored after 5 minutes. Excellent hands from their number 15 putting their winger in the corner. Wilson's worked a penalty in the 10th minute which Ryan narrowly missed. Monkstown added 3 further tries to leave the score 24-0 at half time.

The second half started in a similar fashion to the first - Monkstown building some good phases and scoring a very good try in the corner. The score remained 29-0 until the last 7 minutes. Monkstown added two tries to leave the final score at 43-0.

To their credit, the Wilsons boys fought hard against a physically bigger team. Coach Fred will be proud in particular with the second half as the tackling and intensity in defence improved. Top performances on the afternoon were team captain, William, Alex, Franklin and Ryan.

The Seniors will turn their attention to the Plate now in the hope to bring some silverware back to Multyfarnham before the year us out.
