Sports & Extra Curricular Events 23rd - 29th October 2017

Monday 23rd October.

Rugby. The 1st & 2nd Year Boys Squad will play an away match against Tullamore RFC U13 squad tonight. They knew this would be a tough test as Tullamore are league and cup champions at this age grade. Wilson's made a poor start and were three tries down at the end of the first quarter. After finally finding their feet Wilson's scored their first try. After some great build up play from Tom and Malcom, Eddie managed to barge his way over to get Wilson's moving. Tullamore scored again before Divine who had showed great speed all night touched down in the corner. Next up to score was Reuben before Tullamore scored again.

Tullamore won eight tries to three and was probably a fair reflection of the game. Wilson's can take great heart in putting it up to a very good team for long periods of the game and responding very well after a bad start. Wilson's best players on the day were Reuben, Scott, Eddie and Devine. Next week this team welcome Mullingar RFC to Multyfarnham.

Wednesday 25th October.

Rugby. The Senior Boys were to have a home match against De La Salle Churchtown but it was postponed.

Hockey. The 1st Year Boys team and the 1st Year Girls team both have home fixtures against Drogheda Grammar School. This was the boys' second league match. They came away with a 2-0 win. Wilson's started strongly with both Eoin and Ross creating scoring chances. The opening goal came when Eoin made a burst up the right wing and crossed to the back post for Eogan to tap in. Some excellent defensive work from Eddie, Mario and Edward allowed Wilson's to continue to put pressure on Drogheda and a second goal came just before half time. A lovely through ball from Eoghan gave Eoin time to pick his spot and finish past the keeper. The second half followed much of the same trend as the first but excellent goal keeping from the Drogheda keeper kept the score line at 2-0. Great team effort! Top performances for Wilson's were from Daniel, Malcolm and A.J.  Thanks to Ms. Devaney for umpiring.

The girls had a very good game but Drogheda were the better team on the day.

Orienteering. Thirty seven students from years 1 - 4 took part in an event in Tymon Park, Templeogue, Dublin. They all had a great outing but particular congratulations to Olivia and Kelechi who won the 2nd/3rd Year Girls (A)  and Mary and Destiny who came second in the same age group.

Soccer. The Senior Girls team had a Leinster Girls B game today which they won 5-0 against Gaelch√≥laiste Reachann.
