Ethos & Heritage
Currently in it's 252 year, the Spiritual development of our students is pivotal in our ethos. Daily assembly features an act of worship with Bible reading and prayer. All boarders attend Chapel Services on Sunday night and all classes are taught Religions Education. Students participate in many services throughout the year such as Harvest Thanksgiving, Christmas Carol Service and Confirmation. We are proud of our Church of Ireland heritage. Students of all faiths are welcome, providing there is an acceptance of our ethos.
Andrew Wilson founded Wilson's Hospital in 1761 as a school for young Protestant boys and a hospital for old men, hence the name.
In 1969, Preston School from Navan amalgamated with Wilson's. Preston's pupils included girls so co-education was introduced. The link with Preston School was given permanent expression in 1993 when the new teaching block was named the Preston Building. In 2011 Wilson's Hospital School celebrated its 250th anniversary.
